A slightly uplifting but also disturbing and ridiculous TV spot -
Does anybody know who is responsible for this? Very different from the usual work I see for Folger's (how refreshing!). I guess they achieved their goal - it is five after eleven am, and I am in a good mood.
I believe Saatchi did this. It's a bit too much in the same vein as Crispin's campy Whopperettes spot for BK. Or Dawn of the Living.
ReplyDeleteAnd I still think that Folgers is crap coffee.
I don't actually remember what Folger's is like. Maybe I shouldn't remind myself.
ReplyDeleteThis is precisely the reason why I am in favor of more money put into R&D, which would then lead to better products /ideas for consumers. As opposed to putting money into communications for an "already broke" brand. [ I'm not saying that Folger's is hopeless. ]
This spot IS disturbing and weird. Way too long. I like the idea of what they're trying to do, but the way they decided to go at it is all wrong.

ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU! I totally agree. You have great insight.
thanks! Want to hire me? :)
ReplyDeleteLinked from House of Eratosthenes.
ReplyDeleteThey've got a microsite associated with the ad as well. Some intriguing things, but I never went back after the first time I visited. So maybe it's not that great. And it is Saatchi's work. And I'm with zen: Folgers sucks.
